There are many names to this man. Though he is a cricketer, he is called Mr Dependable, The Wall, Perfect Gentleman and what not. He is none other than Rahul Dravid and now it is heard that he is all set to come up with a very different and dynamic avatar which has shocked many.
Well, Dravid is all set to become a model as he is going to walk the ramp. This is going to be for the show of the famous designer Rohit Kamra who has always believed in promoting Brand India as a fashion theme. So now, Dravid would be walking the ramp sporting Jodhpuris, Kurthis at an event.
This is called The Dance Of Life and it would happen at the Rajasthan Fashion Week. Given the fact that Dravid has led the Rajasthan Royals team during the ongoing IPL cricket tournament, it was expected to see him in Rajasthan but to see him walking the ramp like a model is a shocker to many.
Indian cricket legend once again stressed that no one should tell him when to retire. Sachin Tendulkar revealed this when he interacted with the media to share thoughts about cricket, 100th ton and future.
'Presenty, I'm still having strength to give some extraordinary knock for the sake of country. I'll consider retirement when I lose interest in the game', Sachin said. He dismissed the advises of many seniors and came sharply on them that persons who hadn't even knocked a single century in cricket are advising him, but he is fine with them as long as he can tolerate. Reacting on his 100th ton, Sachin said that he looked at bat and asked God that why did it take such a long time to come. However, little-master added that there were no celebrations for his 100th ton, as India lose that match to Bangladesh in which he got the feat.
Sachin also express his wish by resting it in god's hands and people's prayers about playing for India in 2015 world cup. Talking about the poor form of team he stated that the solutions cannot be described in 3-4 sentences. 'We became number one team by following many strategies, and now that we are lagging behind, we need to rework on them', Sachin concluded.
Rising superstar Virat Kohli paid rich tributes to batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar who recently scored his 100th hundred. He took time to write a letter to his hero Sachin.
Kohli's letter to Sachin: Dear Sachin Paaji, You have a million fans and I am one of them. In fact, I started playing cricket because of you. Simply watching you play motivated me. I don't know if you remember this but I first met you at Wankhede Stadium in 2007.
I was part of the Indian under-19 side and we were set to leave for New Zealand. Mr Lalchand Rajput was our coach and it was he who'd requested you to come and have a chat with us. I was barely 17 then and I must apologise that I - in fact, all my teammates - did not pay much attention to anything you said!
Well, we were simply in awe of you. The boys stood in a huddle and you were, literally and figuratively, the centre of attention. You had told us about the conditions in New Zealand; you spoke about the bounce, the swing and how we need to tackle that. Your technical knowhow held me in good stead on that tour.
People crave to shake hands with you, get your autographs, have a picture clicked and here I am so abundantly lucky to be sharing a dressing room with you. To get to know you personally has been a huge honour.
I have had a fairly good start to my international career and I want to thank you for helping me in every possible way. Paaji, I have never said this to you, but I actually connect with you very easily. I feel comfortable and reassured when I speak to you about my game and, invariably, you tell me what I am actually thinking! I consider it an honour to be on the same page with you...
On Friday, you achieved something which no other cricketer can or will. Yes, I know the last one year was frustrating, but I admire you for the way you handled yourself during this tough phase.
I was at the other end when you missed out on the landmark in Mumbai. It would have been great had you got it there, but it's fine. I know you were not desperate because that's what you have told me: never think too much, just play your game.
You had once told me during our 75-run stand during an ODI in Nagpur that I must follow my instincts. I am doing just that and the results are showing.
Yours lovingly,
Virat Kohli.
Sachin Tendulkar has scored his 100th international century, in India's Asia Cup ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur. The unprecedented landmark was achieved after 33 international innings without a hundred. It was Tendulkar's 49th ODI century, his first against Bangladesh, to go with his 51 Test hundreds.
It was one of his slower hundreds, as he took 138 balls to reach the hundred. The hype around Tendulkar's 100th international century began during last year's World Cup, when two hundreds in the group stages put him on 99 international hundreds. However, he failed to get to three figures on India's tour of England, the home series against West Indies and the tour of Australia, and has finally achieved the feat in Bangladesh.
New Delhi: India's cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar Saturday dismissed speculations that he would announce his retirement after getting his much awaited 100th international ton.
Zee News reported that Tendulkar, in an SMS sent to the channel, has rubbished all speculations about his retirements.
Speculation was rife that Tendulkar would hang up his boots after getting the century in the Asia Cup.
Another veteran batsman Rahul Dravid announced his retirement from international cricket Friday after his poor show in Australia.
Former Indian captain Kapil Dev had said that Tendulkar should have retired after India's World Cup triumph last year. (IANS)
India skipper MS Dhoni on Sunday supported the Team Management's rotation policy saying one of the top three batsmen (Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir) were rested for each game because they are slow on the field.
"Taking all the three of them into the Playing X1 would affect our fielding in a big way. It's not just these three players, but there are quite a few others who are also slow. If you go to the details, there are only two or three good fielders in the side. Especially, the throwing and diving of the fielders need to be good. Fielding is one are where you could always score. It lifts the morale of the team and keeps the intensity," Dhoni said.
"These fielders are not bad but in Australia where you see big fields, they are slightly on the slower side. The opposition teams (Australia and Sri Lanka) would try to exploit them, whenever the ball goes to them. It's not similar to India, where you pick up the ball and throw it back after touching the boundary. Sometimes, you may end up pulling muscle or a hamstring," he added.
Indian Cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who is ongoing chemotherapy for malignant tumor in lung in US, has been responding exceedingly well to the treatment.
The left-handed cricketer was being treated at the Boston Institute of Cancer Research in United States and completed the first cycle of the treatment.
"Got very good news from Dr lawrence today! The tumor is almost way out of the system After reading my todays scan! Second cycle has started," tweeted Yuvraj Singh Yesterday.
It may be recalled that Yuvraj has gone bald for the treatment and had also posted the pic on Twitter. The chemotherapy will come to an end by march end and rehabilitation process would start in April. Let's hope he wears the Indian Jersey in June as promised by the doctors who were treating him!
Indian opener Gautham Gambhir has taken a dig at batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar. If you can't believe it, take a look at the story below...
Reacting to the question about the Rotation Policy, Gambhir backed the decision of the Indian team management. "This was the best XI too. For me, the best XI is the people who had the belief that they can beat any opposition on that given day. And this playing XI had the belief that they can beat Australia in Australia. So for me, One or two individuals can’t make the difference and this was the best playing XI. It's not about names. You don't want names, you want people who can deliver," said Gambhir, after India's win against Australia.
Sachin was the only big names in the team who was dropped from the playing XI for the ODI against Australia. Indian team management's decision to drop Sachin has not gone down well with the spectators, critics and the selectors. All of them questioned, what's the need of dropping a player like Sachin?
May be the criticism on dropping Sachin has angered Gambhir. The left-hander might be fearing that he and Sehwag will be made scapegoat, to allow Sachin play all the ODIs.
Sachin, Sehwag and Gambhir are part of the Rotation Policy. The team management planned that atleast one of these three played should be dropped from the playing XI for each ODI, to give opportunities for youngsters like Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina.
Gambhir didn't even spare Team India skipper Dhoni, who took the match against Australia till the last over. "I don't know why he (Dhoni) delayed and took it till the last over. May be, he wanted somebody else to take the responsibility. If I was there, I would have finished it one or two overs before," he told.
Sakshi singh rawat, the wife of Indian Cricket Squad touring Australia that is Mahendra Singh Dhoni is standing by her husband even in tough times. When entire world is blaming Dhoni for debacle performance in Aussies, the lady showered love on partner by getting the name of ‘Mahi’ inked on her body.
Yes, Sakshi ha snow got a ‘Mahi’ on the left side of her neck. She has even put the same picture as her profile page on Facebook. ‘I got it inked very randomly. Just an impulsive act out of love. It’s Mahi written in Hindi, with a seven next to it. Mahi loved the tattoo,’ Sakshi said. By the way, seven is the number of jersey which Dhoni sports on field. She has got tattooed in Perth, Australia. Well, who have seen the tattoo commented...'not a bad idea to get a tatoo of her husband but it's the timing mattered most. When India is farign very badly against Australia in Test Series, her strange ways of expressing love will hurt the Indian cricket fans.'
Team India captain MS Dhoni has been banned for the final Test against Australia due to a slow over rate during the third Test Match in Perth. India bowled 76 overs in 362 minutes in the only innings they bowled in at the WACA ground, Australia. Even after considering the allowances for taking all the the 10 wickets, interruptions like sight screen adjustments and injury timeouts, India were still short of the target by 2 overs.
Dhoni was fined 40% of his match fees and his teammates were fined for 20% each. This was India's second over-rate offence in the last 12 months.
As per the ICC code of conduct, The captains of Teams would be suspended for one match when found guilty of two over-rate offences within 12 months.
In Dhoni's absence, Virender Sehwag will captain the side in the fourth test at Adelaide. Wriddhiman Saha will replace Dhoni, is the reserve wicketkeeper on tour.
