Story:
This is story of Ram (Dhanush) and Janani (Shruti Haasan), who fall in love at very young age and decide to marry after their graduation. Unexpected events happen and Ram dies. Rest of the story is about the reasons for his death.
Analysis:
As every Tamil film that is releasing in Telugu these days, 3 too is a film with dark shades. This film starts on a colorful note and turns dark and gets darker as the movie progresses. It will be hard to digest the film as it is extremely depressing.
Audiences started walking out of the theaters just few minutes after the second half has started. Aishwarya tried to explore the darker side of life and audiences are not expecting such darkness from this ‘Kolaveri’ film.
Maybe you may find 3 alright if you are prepared to watch a dark film. However, the snail paced second half doesn’t allow the audience to sit through it.
Performances:
Dhanush came up with extraordinary show yet again. He has lived the character which required him to show various shades of life. He simply excelled in his role. He can expect more awards out of this. Shruti Haasan fails as an actress. She is pathetic in sorrowful scenes. She has gone over the board many a time and it would be hard to bear her ‘performance’. She is definitely not a Kamal in acting. Rohini, Bhanu Priya and others did well.
Technicalities:
Techincally the movie is very good. Aishwarya had a very talented crew at her hands and they have done excellent job behind the screen. Anirudh’s music is pretty impressive. Kolaveri failed to reach the expectations on screen. Background score is good. Cinematography is another asset to the movie. Art department deserves a pat. Production values are nice.
Aishwarya excelled as a director in dealing with the teenage love. She should have stuck to a colorful love subject rather falling into the trap of Tamil dark movies. She failed to bring the right emotions in the latter half of the movie. Saying so, Aishwarya do have few qualities to become a good director, but she needs some fine tuning.
Final Word:
3 will appeal to offbeat movie lovers. Extreme darker tones doesn’t appeal to entertainment seeking Telugu audience.
Both the movies got their audio out and trailers are also released. With the clock ticking on for release, comparison game started in Tollywood for these summer bonanzas.
After delivering a mega-flop ‘Orange’, Ram Charan is on fire to score a blockbuster again. With his entire ammunition ready, he is going to fire ‘Rachha’ missile very soon. Main attractions for the movie are Cherry’s dances and Tamanna’s glamour, while there is no need of mentioning about fights and dialogues. The only leg that can shake ‘Rachha’ base is Sampath Nandi. Firstly he is new to this genre and secondly this is just his second movie. Everything now depends on his handling of story which needs a gripping narration.
Coming to ‘Dammu’, NTR too tumbled with two flops in 2011. They are Shakti and Oosaravelli. Putting full stop to his experiments, he has chosen the path of mass-action formula once again by roping in Boyapati Seenu. Jr.NTR’s performance, fights and dances are a big plus for the movie, while glamour part is not revealed yet. As of now there are no draw backs for Dammu and we have to see how the chemistry between Trisha, Karthika and NTR worked out.
Overall, both the films have managed so far with average music and excited trailers for fans. Wait for the hot summer to know the real heat of these two big-flicks.
Much hyped '3' movie in which world famous song Kolaveri is a part has hit theatres the other day. Let's check the first talk of it from theatres.
As imagined, the film is a breezy love story. But, the love drama exists only in the first half with second half going more pathos. The very idea of hero's death is not indigestible for many entertainment loving audiences. With the sole clutch unraveled by interval, one loses interest post interval. Cine lovers say 'First half is entertaining in a very realistic way. We have recollected our childhood incidents and college love. But second half is dragged with too much misery inserted into the revealed story line'.
In performances, Sruthi Hassan rocks with her weeping and emotions once again. While Dhanush too did his part as mentally imbalanced guy, his wife and director Aishwarya did justice to screenplay but selected an average script. Simply, 3 movie is just 1.5 Sruthi, 1 Danush and 0.5 Aishwarya Danush!
Movie : LOVELY
Rating: 2.5/5
Cast : Aadi, Shanvi, Rajendra Prasad, Vennela Kishor, Ahuti Prasad and others
Directed by : Jaya B
Produced by : BA Raju
Banner : RR Movie Makers
Music : Anup Rubens
Release Date : 2012-03-30
Sai Kumar's son Aadi, who made debut with Prema Kavali, did his second movie Lovely under Jaya's direction. Aadi impressed one and all with his energetic performance in Prema Kavali. Is he a one film wonder or does he have the mettle to become a bankable star? Lovely explores his casual side and let's see how he and the film fare?
What is it about?
Maharadhi (Rajendra Prasad) is a multi millionaire, who loves his daughter Lovely (Shanvi) more than anything. His daughter falls in love with Akash (Aadi). Maharadhi believes that his daughter's choice will be as good as his. But the first impression of Akash makes him rethink. He decides to observe Akash by staying along with him and we get to know that Maharadhi himself has a dark past. What is that and what happens to Akash's love story sums up Lovely.
Performances:
Aadi doesn't have a big frame, but can pull of action episodes and he also can dance like a livewire. He confidently carries his role, but he is yet to refine his skills as an actor. There is one very heavy emotional scene during the climax and Aadi comes up with a blank face. That is not a good sign for an actor.
Shanvi is cute, but doesn't have the oomph to lure the masses. She neither possesses any acting skills. She is just a nursery kid in terms of performance. Rajendra Prasad is alright as a caring father. But he failed to deliver a natural performance. Maybe the poor characterization didn't help him much.
Vennela Kishore and Chinmayi have done a decent job and are very compatible and complimented each other in comedy sequences. Ahuti Prasad is loud and Paruchuri Gopala Krishna is over the top.
On the Technical Front:
Technically Lovely comes up with a mixed show. Music by Anup Rubens is nice. Most of the songs are shot well and his compositions are very catchy. Lovely title song will haunt the viewers. BGM is not bad either. Dialogues are Okay.
Cinematography is average. It is good in songs with rich visuals, but looked cheap during the talkie portions. Editing is jerky. Director failed to generate the feel in the movie. The film lacked natural appeal and everything seemed dramatic. These type of films need sensible narration and Lovely lacked it completely.
Analysis:
Lovely in spite of having a decent storyline, which has shades of Bommarillu didn't click due to poor screenplay. Initial scenes that show the bond between father and daughter are very artificial. Audiences get disconnected with the film right away. The love story doesn't have the soul. Director never tried to show how strong their bond is.
Biggest drawback in this film is the father - daughter bond is never explored. They hardly share any scenes. Hence, the father's sacrifices for his daughter seem forced and out of place. Even the daughter speaks high about her father only in his presence (of course her character isn't aware of his presence), which is another reason for this relation and emotions to look unnatural.
There are numerous flaws in the screenplay and less talked about the climax is better. Except for songs and few comedic scenes, Lovely offers nothing novel. Moreover, most part of the film is extremely boring, very illogical and dramatically artificial. Lovely's future at box office looks gloomy and with so many big films lined up for release, it is ought to suffer 'sun stroke' in this hot summer.
Final Word: Lovely is a love story without soul!
