I cried while shooting for Kandireega : Aksha
Remember Aksha who played the role of Sandhya, the daughter of Warangal Rajanna, in Kandireega? She has been receiving good reviews for her performance in the film from folks in film industry, audience and critics alike. Now, we heard about an interesting incident which happened on the sets of the film. Apparently, Aksha used to cry a lot while shooting for the film because she found it difficult to memorize all her dialogues! “Yes, it’s true. I worked very hard for Kandireega. I didn’t sleep for nights because I was either shooting or I was too stressed while trying to memorize the dialogues. I didn’t dub but I almost cried because I wanted to get the lip sync correctly and also the body language at the same time,” Aksha said.
In the end, Tejaswi dubbed for Aksha and the Telangana accent was very well received by the audience. Buoyed by the success of this film, Aksha is now planning to learn Telugu so that she can dub for herself in near future. Ram, Hansika, Aksha and Sonu Sood played lead roles in the film. Santosh Srinivas directed the film and Bellamkonda Suresh produced it. To celebrate the success of the film, the film unit is going on a success tour across AP and the unit will be visiting Vizag, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada and Hyderabad and other cities.
Mahesh Dookudu Dialogs Creating Massive buzz
Mahesh Babu is not known for uttering over the board mass dialogues. He is known for small dialogues with greater 'punch'. "Gun chudu, tappu ledu. Bullet choodalanukoku, chachipothav", "Eppudochamannadi kadannayya, bullet diginda leda?" type dialogues are most suitable for his persona and physique.Dookudu is going to change this image for him as he is uttering few mass masala dialogues in a very high tone. Here are few dialogues from Dookudu movie.
- Mind lo fix aithe blind ga vellipotha
- Bhayaniki meaning ye teliyani blood ra naadi
- Nenu narakadam modalu pedithe narakam lo houseful board pettukovali ra.
- Okkodiki Bulbulu pagilipovali
- Ee dookude lekapothe police vaadiki, postman ki teda emuntadi?
- Kallu unnodu munde choostadu. Dhimaag unnodu duniya motham chustadu
Urumi Movie: Review
Rating: 3.5/5
Cast: Prithviraj, Arya, Prabhu Deva, Genelia, Tabu , Nithya Menon
Director: Santhosh Sivan
Producer: Shobha Rani
Music Director: Deepak Dev
Release Date: 19 August 2011
Certification: U
Story:
The film is set in the backdrop of the fierce warrior clans of Northern Kerala in the 16th century and focuses on the cult of Chirakkal Kelu Nayanar. It is all about boy, who wants to avenge the death of his father, who has been killed by Vasco da Gama. Santhosh Sivan's dragging narration in both first and second half tests the patience of the viewers. The climax scenes seem to have taken from another epic film Pazhassi Raja.
The story starts with present generation and soon goes back to history. Chirakkal Kelu Nayanar (Prithviraj) sets on mission to kill Dom Vasco da Gama, the Viceroy of Portuguese Empire in India. But he faces lots of odds on his way to reach his target. He has to encounter many conflicts within the kinsmen, kings, ministers, peasants and Muslim warrior princess Ayesha (Genelia D'Souza) of the famed Arackal Sultanat. He has a forte, a legendary golden Urumi, which is made from the ornaments of women and children, who were burnt alive by Vasco da Gama. Kelu is supported by his childhood friend Vavvali (Prabhu Deva). How he creates his own army and starts movement against the first Colonial advance in India will form the crux of the film.
Performances:
Prithviraj is simply superb as Kelu Nayanar. Prabhudeva too puts in a commendable performance. Genelia leaves an impact with a role which no one would imagine her to be doing. Amol Gupte, who is already proven to be a great performer, makes his mark, Jagathy, Nitya Menon, Vidya Balan, Arya etc do justice to their respective roles. Everyone is good in their respective roles.
Analysis:
Technically, Urumi has the Santosh Sivan stamp all over it; not only angles of shots but even the gait of every actor is peculiarly choreographed so as to give the performer an individual style, sometimes stretched to the extent that we feel that they are striking a pose for a still photograph.
Prithviraj is masculinity personified with an opportunity to show off his bulging biceps throughout. Prabhu Deva's bony physique (who plays his childhood chum Vavvali) acts as contrast, as is Jagathy Sreekumar's effeminate villainous Chenichery kurup.
Genelia D'Souza, as the warrior princess Aysha, impresses. Nithya Menon as flirtatious and childlike. Paired with Prabhu Deva, she has her moments of glory. Only Vidya Balan's presence is not justified by the story.
Finally: Different, excellent, must-watch movie
Trivikram's crush on hot TV Anchor Reshmi
Having a crush on their lead ladies and running affairs with them until they find someone else is quite natural for film makers, especially directors. Trivikram is better known for his hush hush affairs with his lead ladies, especially a second heroine in his superhit flick. There comes this new story now!
Insiders are saying that talented director Trivikram is going mad over this hot and happening anchor from Telugu circuit. Reshmi, the hot anchor known for her ravishing looks in the TV program 'Moguds Pellams' on a popular TV channel MAA is the girl in news. Rumors are heard that Trivikram got smitten with the dusky looks of this hot Telugu beauty before going to cast her in his upcoming flick. If it is a crush it is okay, but if turns something like an affair, then there is no doubt he will be coming up with a flick in next one year. A senior cine member is saying that, "Trivikram has lots of talent in scripting and got a potentiality to deliver high profile flicks. This kind of weakness can ruin his fame and dashes out his career". Looks like Trivikram should tight his buckles to defend all these allegations and should focus on making decent profitable flicks.
RGV 'Not A Love Story' Movie Review
Film: Idhi Prema Katha Kadu Rating: 3/5 Banner: Bohra International Productions Cast: Mahie Gill, Deepak Dobriyal, Ajay Gehi Music: Sandeep Chowta Director: Ram Gopal Varma Producers: Sunil Bohra, Shailesh R Singh Release Date: August 19, 2011 Story: A dark tale, the story is about Anusha (Mahie Gill) who comes to Mumbai to fulfill her dream of becoming an actress. She also manages to convince her obsessive boyfriend Robin (Deepak Dobriyal) at her home town that she would be successful. After going through few hiccups, Anusha finally manages to get a break. This happens with the help of a friend Ashish (Ajay Gehi). In this process, both get close one night. The next morning, Robin lands at the door and is shocked to know what happened. Unable to control his anger, he kills Ashish. What happens after that forms the rest of the story. Performances Deepak Dobriyal is the apt choice for portraying the role of an obsessed lover. Though there are those occasional eye poppings from him, he comes up with an intense performance. Mahie Gill was fabulous. She was sexy, she was beautiful, she was emotional and she was expressive in agony. Part of the credit goes to the director for extracting the best out of her. Zakir Hussain was excellent, his cold stares and mean expressions make him fit the bill of the cop in the right way. He deserves more opportunities and challenging roles. Ajay Gehi was upto the mark. Neil Bhoopalam was there to fill the screen. Darshan Jariwala was decent. Ganesh Yadav was neat. The others did their bit as required and added value. Highlights
Drawbacks
Analysis Ram Gopal Varma is a man of unique ideals. True to his philosophy, though he titles the film as Not A Love Story, the very essence of the plot runs on the emotion of love though the act is gruesome. It is a pure Lust Story! This film can be made in two different ways. Either in view point of Anusha or in view point of Robin. He has chosen the former way showing women in right light and men in dark light here. The actual truth is still skeptical. While that is the content aspect, Ramu scores most of his marks as a technician and story teller. He didn’t venture into anything special and stuck to straight screenplay which is quite unusual. Though this is not a film of his standards, the brilliance of Ramu is seen in the taking and making. The film will have a greater impact if it is watched without any preconceived notions or the influence of hype. However, given the genre of the film, this is something for select audience and hardcore RGV fans. At the box office, the film will surely gain profits due to its cost of making but acceptance from all forms of audience is ruled out. Many may quip saying that it's a higher version of a Crime Watch TV program!! Verdict: Intense but disturbing… |
