Director Suraj’s first choice for a name for his film would be a name of one of Rajinikanth’s popular films. His earlier films, Padikathavan and Maapillai were also named after Rajini’s film.
His next flick with Karthi and Anushka is Alex Pandian, the name of Rajini’s character in Moondrumugam.
When we asked him why he always chooses a name of one of Rajini’s films, he says, “Being an ardent Rajini fan, his film names strike me whenever I think of a title. This character, Alex Pandian, in Moondrumugam is the most popular role.
I just thought of this title, as it was my favourite Rajini character. Rajini’s film names are attractive and I always think of his film names before finalising the titles of my films.”
So, is Karthi is playing a cop like Rajini’s character, Alex Pandian in Moondrumugam? “Karthi’s role has got nothing to do with Rajini’s character. His role is completely different. We have erected sets depicting a local market in the city. The shoot will commence soon,” he says
Venkat Prabhu after his Mankatha starring Ajith was a blockbuster, moved towards Suriya for his next film. Latest we hear is, the star director has approached Ajith and have planned to team up again soon.
Venkat Prabhu, who is busy with his forthcoming 3D film with Suriya in the lead, is keen to have Sonam Kapoor and Taapsee in the female leads and Tollywood actor Ravi Teja is also touted to be playing an important role. Mega Power Star ram charan's 'Rachcha' movie's audio is releasing on 4th March at Kurnool. Although, the audio release is postponed for one week than the scheduled release date of 26th February, the makers are planning to release the movie on 29th March itself. Besides, Power Star Pawan Kalyan, who is going to be the Chief Guest of this function, many top directors from South are to grace the event. Well, a strange observation made by one of our cine analysts has an inference on mahesh babu taking his career too seriously as he is in no mood to experiment either with other language or name-less directors. For all those fresh directorial talents dreaming of doing a project with Mahesh, your dream might well remain as a dream because he is unaffordable at the moment.

Shooting of the most eagerly anticipated multi-starrer ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ is currently underway in Tamil Nadu and a family song is being shot on Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu, Samantha,Prakash Raj and Jayasudha. ‘Aaru adugula andagadu vasthade’ is said to be the song.
The current schedule will continue till March 3rd and the production team will then return to Hyderabad. Srikanth Addala is the director of this family drama and Dil Raju is the producer. The movie is being heralded as a landmark moment in the industry as its success has the potential to spawn many more proper multi-starrers with the biggest Telugu stars. The weekend (3 days) collections reports of ‘Poola Rangadu’, ‘Love Failure’ and ‘Nippu’ have come from USA. While Poola Rangadu collected a reasonable US $ 75,000, ‘Love Failure’ collected US$ 60,000 and ‘Nippu’ made US$ 16000.
Here the shock element is with respect to ‘Nippu’. The film is in such pity condition that even small budget films with unknown faces do that collection in general when a positive talk is received. But despite the presence of Ravi Teja things didn’t work.
Coming to homeland, the collections of ‘Nippu’ were worse. Even the Sunday evening shows were not full in many theatres. For example, Tirupathi is a place where a good number of employees live. They make the theatres of new release films a definite houseful on Sunday for evening show. But shockingly, the main theatre in Tirupathi could not make full collection for that show. Even the small hero film gets full collections.
Coming to ‘Love Failure’ it’s another film that failed to reach expectations in collections. The collections were weak in B and C centers and even the multiplexes are observing a complete drop down. Only 50-60 percent collections are reporting from multiplexes. The total run of the film may fetch an estimated Rs 4 Cr share, say sources, despite good talk.
Surprisingly ‘Poola Rangadu’ has beaten Ravi Teja and Siddhardha in US market as well as in Indian market making Rs 10.60 Cr share till now.

Coming to point, his first movie Aha Na Pellanta was said to be a direct lift of 2002 Korean movie 'Marrying The Mafia' (Gamuneui yeonggwang). With Allari Naresh and Srihari taking the leads, the film scored a substantial hit. His latest movie PR with Sunil is a remake of 2005 Malayalam film 'Pandippada'.
Critics are saying that remaking hit-movies by adding a touch of nativity is always a safe game as the director need not worry about story and it's receiving. By looking at all this information, one will doubt which movie Veerabhadram will remake as his 3rd venture. Watch this space for more interesting updates.
Poola Rangadu that released on 18th of this month made Rs 6 Cr share in 3 days as per trade reports. Adding to this the satellite rights were sold out at Rs 4.10 Cr as per the reports. And Karnataka made Rs 50 lakh share making the total share for 3 days landing at Rs 10.60 Cr.
The investment incurred on the making of the film was Rs 8 Cr and thus the film is on the plus side with a profit of Rs 2 Cr plus.
This is the successive hit from RR banner after Businessman which made a share of Rs 50 Cr approximately.
The eyes of entire Tollywood are pinned on RR Venkat and many are saying that whatever he is touching is turning gold.
Young Rebel Star Prabhas’s action entertainer ‘Rebel’ is inching towards completion. The movie is currently being shot in Ramoji Film City and the final schedule will begin from the 23rd of this month. Shooting will take place at Shamshabad Temple and the schedule will be wrapped up by March 12th. Tamanna and Deeksha Seth will be seen as the heroines in this film and Lawrence is the director.
J.Bhagawan and J.Pullarao are jointly producing this film. Rebel is scheduled for a release in May. Music is being composed by Lawrence himself and the movie has some high voltage action sequences that were shot in Bangkok.
Pawan Kalyan, who has realized the importance of working with Telugu directors, has also learned another lesson from his failures. Power star has always been sweet for his producers that he didn't demand to rope in crazy heroines in his movies. Few producers took this for granted and zeroed in heroines such as Nikesha Patel, Anjali Lavania and Sarah Jane Dias opposite him.
The above mentioned heroines have neither the sex appeal nor the crazy factor in their favor. If you look at the current trend, a crazy heroine is much needed for a film to reach the next level. Even Pawan Kalyan's only hit in a decade's time, Jalsa had the then numero uno Ileana as the female lead.
Pawan finally realized the importance of roping in top list heroines and is being strict about it. If the buzz is to be believed, from here on his movies will only have crazy heroines and that should add the extra zing for Power star's movies. What say?
