A doyen of the Telugu Film Industry is no more. Mallemala Sundara Rami Reddy or Mallemala, as he was popularly known, passed away today morning.He was 87. M.S.Reddy was a stalwart of the film industry and was instrumental in shifting the Telugu Film Industry from Chennai to Hyderabad.Born in 1924, M.S.Reddy was an accomplished poet and lyricist. His simple and easy to understand style earned him the title ‘Sahaja Kavi’. He has over 5000 poems to his credit. He has produced some of the most path breaking films in the Telugu Industry, including ‘Ramayanam’, which was made entirely with child artistes. NTR Jr. made his acting debut with that movie.He established Shabdalaya Studios and M.S. Arts and has produced 25 films. We are deeply saddened at his demise. Pawan’s Panjaa is a well crafted film. As Jaidev, Pawan has slipped into the character rather seamlessly. His mature performance brings out the intense conflict that Jaidev goes through. The casualty though is the trademark histrionics that one associates with Pawan. They simply are absent in this film. How his legion of fans will take this transformation and what is the resultant impact at the box office would have been known by now. Irrespective of the result, the one good thing in all this is the fact that Pawan is willing to experiment outside the clichéd image of a Tollywood hero. He should continue on this path. Panjaa opened well with heavy crowds all over the state.Power Star's Crowd pulling capacities were never in any sort of doubt, but the public talk is not encouraging. Panjaa is carrying poor mouth talk in most centres, especially in B & C Centres. Everybody was expecting to see Panjaa breaking first day record of Oosaravelli, not to forget that Panjaa made more buzz with his first look release on the same day when Oosaravelli released. In Ceeded, Panjaa did not live up to the expectations which hampered the chances of breaking the record.It reaffirms the fact that movies cannot be made to run with publicity. It has taken only one day to wipe out the buzz created for two months in the build up to Panjaa release. On first day Panjaa collected 5.8Cr in Andhra Pradesh replacing Dookudu, which collected 5.73Cr, Oosaravelli leads the table with 7.3Cr.
Perhaps one of the biggest and most talked about movie of the season in Tollywood was ‘Panjaa’ and it came with a lot of hype. However, despite all that, the film failed to receive the kind of response it expected. While the factors could be many, the presence of Pawan Kalyan and the profile of director Vishnuvardhan were the key highlights which drew big attention. So now, many are looking towards the media houses to see what their analysis is. Here is a look at a few of them.IBN Live has reportedly quoted that Pawan’s new look with a beard and Vishnuvardhan’s stylish presentation were the appealing factors. Points were given to Yuvan Shankar Raja for his music and P S Vinod for his cinematography. As for Pawan, he scored in his dialogue delivery, elegance etc. The best part was his dance for the song ‘Paparayudu…’. On the flip side, the pace was slow, story was not fresh and the screenplay was on beaten track. The title song’s placement also went against the film.
As for Deccan Chronicle, after playing a lover boy in Teen Maar, Pawan Kalyan returns in the fiery role of a lieutenant to a ruthless don and tries to do justice to the 'grey' role, but the familiar plot dampens his efforts. Although, Panjaa is loosely inspired by the Hollywood flick, Carlito’s Way, but the much-hyped action thriller lacks the adrenaline of a tight and creative script and one feels let down when stepping out of the theatre.
Rediff quotes that given the number of films made on mafia backdrop, just getting new actors and not able to package the product with substance or taking few bits from different films will not yield success. They add that the plot is very clichéd and there is nothing different or new. Overall, it is a disappointing treat.
As for Bangalore Mirror, they have come up with a mixed reaction. They say that while the focus was more on storytelling and making each scene stylish, the lack of full length songs barring one or two is a different format. The technical values got good score but then the film suffered due to weak screenplay. The lack of commercial elements was also deemed as another factor why the film failed to work.
Sify has given a rather disappointing reaction. They have reportedly mentioned that Pawan fans were having huge expectations since the power star was unable to deliver hits after ‘Jalsa’. The hysteria was high and the pre-release publicity was good. However, the film didn’t work due to lack of proper editing. The presence of two hot heroines also was not used properly and the required juice was missing. The consolation for the film came from Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music and P S Vinod’s cinematography. The action sequences (Sham Kaushal) were disappointing while dialogues (Abburi Ravi) were okay. Comedy was zero. Just for the first half hour, the rest of the film goes down.
Overall, 'Panjaa' has suffered a negative talk for now. But the cine pundits say that even if it is a flop film from Pawan, the makers will land in commercially successful zone. For now, many are waiting for Monday's close of business to take the final call on the film.Source: Greatandhra

Bollywood hero Abhishek Bachchan Today revealed that during his earlier days in the Industry, he was slapped by a women for being part of a bad film and called that phase as the lowest time in his life."Once, I was slapped by a women when I had gone to a theatre to see how my film is faring. She said, "Stop. You're embarrassing your family and ruining your father's (Amitabh Bachchan) name". And it was not the slap that hurt me, but the words she has uttered. The shooting of Superstar Mahesh and crazy director Puri Jagannath’s upcoming flick ‘The Businessman’ has been wrapped up on December 10th. Speaking about the film, Puri said although Businessman is a big film the shooting has been completed in record time.“In just 74 days we have completed the talkie part of The Businessman with perfect planning. Mahesh Babu worked for 65 days and Kajal for 30 days. With complete support from artists and technicians we are able to wrap up the shooting of this big budgeted flick in record time,” said Puri Jagannath.The director is all praise for Mahesh who has done complete justice to the role of protogonist. “After Pokiri, both Me and Mahesh have teamed up again for this film and there are huge expectations on the project. It is a common funda that whenever a big hero film arrives, the rest of the films tend to stop their release as they don't want to get swept away.
