Sometimes, it takes years for people to find out what they are good at and what works for them! After completing 5 years in the Industry, Ram Charan has finally found his hit formula.
Ram Charan has two big hits to his credit till date, one happens to be the magnum opus Magadheera and the other one is the mass entertainer Racha. Both these film which has set the cash registers ringing has one thing in common. It's the remix songs of Chiranjeevi's super hits 'Bangaru Kodipetta' & 'Vana Vana Velluvayi'.
Now, Charan is going to repeat this hit sentiment with his upcoming film in the direction of VV Vinayak. He suggested music director Thaman to remix Chiru-Bhanu Priya's popular song 'Guvva Gorinka Tho' in 'Khaidi No 786' for his film. So, Cherry will dancing with princess Kajal in this dance number. If this film too hits the bull's eye, then we may expect atleast one remix song of Chiru's hits in Charan's every film.
Taking the success of bid budgeted films into account in the Summer season, Tollywood filmmakers can proudly say that golden days of Telugu Cinema are back again.
The stupendous success of Racha, Dammu and Gabbar Singh at the Box Office has given new hope for Industry, which is in a slump from the past few years. It's the first time in the last decade or so, three big films of three big stars recorded consecutive hits.
The festival started with Ram Charan's Racha, which collected a share of Rs 55 crores to enter into Super hit caterory. Then came NTR's powerful entertainer Dammu, which collected a share of Rs 35 crores and become an above average grosser. Finishing touch has been given by Pawan Kalyan with a money spinner in the form of 'Gabbar Singh', which could end up collecting anywhere around Rs 70 crores in its total run. With this three flicks, a mammoth share of Rs 160 crores has been generated. Altogether, this is a very good sign for Tollywood!
The current trend in Tollywood is 'fake publicity' and 'fake statements'. Surprisingly, this virus got spread to even the most successful films.
In this summer season, several big ticket films had hit the screens to provide entertainment to the film lovers. Starting from Racha, Dammu to Gabbar Singh, the makers of all these films have been making fake claims ever since their films got released. Racha (ALL TIME SOUTH INDIA RECORD), Dammu (BIGGEST BLOCKBUSTER OF THE YEAR) AND Gabbar Singh (ALL TIME INDUSTRY HIT) is a big joke.
How can a film be called as All Time South India Record, if it is broke some of the records in Tollywood alone? How can a film be called as Biggest Blockbuster of the Year, if it just managed to get above average result? How can a film be called as All Time Industry Hit, even before achieving that rare feat? Who should be blamed for this hyped up fake hungama? It should be Heroes or Directors or Producers!!!
Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s mass action entertainer ‘Racha’ has completed its 50 day run today (May 24th) . The movie did excellent business in the opening weeks and the overall collections are very good, making it a profitable venture. ‘Racha’ has been produced by Mega Supergood Movies Banner.
Racha was the first of the big summer films to score at the Box Office this year. Tamanna played the role of the female lead in this movie and Mani Sharma scored the music. Sampath Nandi is the director. The makers are reportedly planning a grand celebration to mark the event, but there is no official announcement about it yet.
Megastar Chiranjeevi ruled Telugu cinema for more than two decades and he was the number one hero until his last film was released. Later his son Ram Charan showed his stamina with Magadheera and mega fans felt that Tollywood throne will be their hero's for another two decades. To their shock, mega heroes started losing all the sheen and shine post Magadheera.
Not just Pawan Kalyan or Ram Charan, every one of them including ever reliable Allu Arjun started delivering flops. In the meantime Nandamuri heroes proved their might in 2010 with Simha, Adurs and Brindavanam. In 2011, it was Mahesh Babu who has hit the form of his life and registered back to back super hits. Mega fans started to feel the heat until Racha was released early this summer.
With Racha, Ram Charan has proved his critics wrong by making an ordinary film into a blockbuster. When mega fans are still enjoying the records set by Racha, in came Gabbar Singh with full power. Pawan Kalyan took box office by storm and has been sweeping all the records in matter of days. With back to back super hit films, mega heroes took over the throne and have thrown a serious challenge to their close competitors.
A film with good content is assured of long run and films with poor content may get collections initially but will lose the steam quickly. Three of this year's hits fall in the second category! Businessman and Racha turned out to be big hits commercially and Poola Rangadu also was a good money spinner at the box office.
None of these films stood firm until the fifty day run. Racha is currently into its fifth week and the slump in collections is clearly evident. There is one film that was a good hit at the box office, which is having a brilliant run. That is none other than Nitin's Ishq, which is currently running in five theaters in Nizam alone. This film is into eleventh week and it is still getting share in Hyderabad.
Even though this film was released in limited screens, in this age of piracy, Ishq holding its ground for such a long period is excellent. When all the above films are flashy hits, this is one real hit with solid content and superb music. Congrats team Ishq!
Ram Charan finally got time to promote his recent hit Racha. Charan left to Mumbai right after Racha was released for the first schedule of Zanjeer. Later he came back to Hyderabad and completed an item song for Yevadu. After that he did a special chat show with his Racha costar Tamanna. Both of them had a whale of a time during this chitchat.
Charan and Tamanna have great chemistry and also share good friendship, which was evident in the chat show. This is being aired in various entertainment and news channels and those who watched this show are giving positive feedback. This chat show showed the humorous side of Ram Charan, who was extremely good at delivering instant comedy punches.
His deadly spontaneous punch on his close friend Rana's Casanova nature was the highlight of this show. Tamanna said that Charan is her best co star to date and Charan spoke very well about Jr. NTR and Allu Arjun. He didn't mind to mention the names of his colleagues from the film industry, which is a rarity in this egoistic field. Both Charan and Tamanna wished that they should do more films together. Even their fans would wish so, won't they?
Ramcharan’s ‘Rachcha’ and Junior NTR’s ‘Dammu’ are massive star releases of this season which are almost declared as commercially safe ventures. While ‘Dammu’ raked a record first week share, ‘Rachcha’ is going moderate even in the fifth week. The strange similarity in both of these flicks is that, it’s the star power of heroes which ran the show minting money for producers and distributors. Content wise, both were weak yet they created new milestones.
Away from these two, well wishers of Tollywood are expecting ‘Gabbar Singh’ to be a mass treat but not with as many flaws as above two had in them. However, Harish Shankar is proficient in working out the things with more of common sense as seen in ‘Mirapakay’ or ‘Shock.’ In addition, pawan kalyan gives more than what a director wants and ‘Dabangg’ is a proved subject. So, there is every possibility for ‘Gabbar Singh’ to have a long standing innings at BO unlike the pinch hitters Cherry & Tarak.
Half-baked films 'Racha' and 'Dammu' turned into money spinners! Should we feel happy for the crowd pulling factor of our stars (or) blame the audience for their poor taste? Where the Tollywood is heading towards? Is this a good sign for the Industry or a curse?
The difference between a failure and a success is doing a thing nearly right and doing a thing exactly right. But looking at the success of Racha & Dammu, this famous quote looks entirely impractical. "It's once again proven with 'Racha' and 'Dammu' that a Tollywood film with all the commercial elements will end up making profits in most of the cases, despite having multiple noticeable flaws in it. Encouraging such films is noting but giving license to the filmmakers to make films with poor script. In a way that reflects the degrading standards," opines a film analyst.
Well, there is also a positive side to it. As the good thing about a successful film is that it's the bread and butter of many, starting from print dispatchers to canteen and parking maintainers in theaters. Kudos to Tollywood and the film lovers for making this happen!

Yes, due to Labor Holiday of Tuesday (yesterday) due to May Day, collections of dammu were rock stable thus helping Tarak to beat Charan by a good margin. By the end of first week, no surprises even if dammu lands some where in between Rs.2.5-2.75 Crores alone in Karnataka. That is the Star Power of NTR for you folks…!

If only Mahesh fans had watched 'Pokiri' and 'Dookudu', both could not garner huge collections. 'Businessman' failed to recreate magic, because the film is intended only for fans. 'Magadheera' became a big hit only due to the viewership of all heroes' fans but not just mega-fans. Irrespective of the mega-craze, 'Racha' is able to collect its investment back, but didn't turn up a trend setter.
Critics say that directors should change their mindsets to make movies for 'audience' but not just for 'fans'. With their fan-loving movies, industry will get work but it cannot get a page for itself in history. Till date, 2012 has not seen a proper movie that is loved by all sections of audiences. Let us see if any director could come up with a movie that everyone loves to watch!

Even before this movie, he has taken considerably long time to commit a film as he basked in the glory of 'Magadeera' for months.
