Samantha Failed To 'Lift' Men

Though she has a killing smile and baby face that can melt the hearts of many boys, she doesn't have the real oomph that can raise the heat inside men. She is none other than Samantha and this lovely smile beauty seems to have scored the least marks in her latest venture 'Dookudu'. Samantha has paired up with prince Mahesh Babu in this one.

The talk is that no one is remembering Samantha after watching 'Dookudu' and the admiration has gone more for Parvathi Melton. Many are saying "In such a blockbuster film, Samantha should have increased her oomph factor and grab attention. Look how Tamannah did that in 'Badrinath'."
While Samantha is not able to lift hormones of males, there are those who say she has that innocent beauty which will strike a chord with many. While they admire Samantha a lot, they suggest that if she puts on few extra pounds she will become a killer heroine. Hope this message gets passed to Samantha then.

Director's Revenge - Nikitha Out! Priyamani In!!

Finally, the heart broken director has taken revenge on his darling, who cheated him very badly. This talk is doing rounds in Film Nagar during the team time breaks of cine observers.

Dusky beauty Nikitha's career got almost shelved with the news of Kannada Film Industry banning her. Though Kollywood has taken back it's decision, Nikitha is in a state of shock for all the things happened. Telugu director Dasarath is the guy who got a bigger shock than anyone with that affair news of Nikitha. Earlier, Dasarath tried all possible ways to rope in Nikitha for that second heroine role in Mr.PERFECT.
When that idea got misfired with Dil Raju's intervention, Dasarath tried to book her as a lead opposite Family Hero Venkatesh's next with him. This too got failed now, as Dasarath got failed in the love affair a source revealed. It is heard that Priyamani is replacing that place alongside Venkatesh.

Dookudu the biggest hit you've never heard of

The Los Angeles Times says "Dookudu the biggest hit you've never heard of. While Hindi-oriented movies some times land on domestic box-office charts, reminding the American film industry of the shadow economy that is indian cinema in the US, it's a rarer for a Tollywood film to full of the feat." it says.
The most popular movies at the multiplex this past weekend included some familiar titles: "The Lion King,"  "Moneyball," "Drive" and "Dookudu: Daring & Dashing."

Doo-wha?

"Dookudu," an Indian cinema offering that blends action, comedy, romance and dance sequences  (don't they always?), scored three of the seven most lucrative engagements around the country, according to the trade newspaper Variety. At a multiplex in Fairfax County, Va., the movie took in a whopping $82,000 over the weekend, a sum surpassed only by a trio of  "Moneyball" engagements (at gargantuan venues such as AMC Lincoln Square and Regal Union Square in Manhattan and the ArcLight in Hollywood).

The Virginia multiplex was an outlet of the Phoenix BIG chain, which programs Indian films along with the "Abductions" and "Dolphin Tales" of the world. (The other two engagements, incidentally, came in Edison, N.J., and suburban Dallas, where the film took in $73,000 and $71,000, respectively, over the weekend.)

Making the feat more striking: "Dookudu" is a Tollywood film, the nickname for the Telugu-language cinema from India's Andhra Pradesh region. While Hindi-oriented Bollywood movies sometimes land on domestic box-office charts, reminding the American film industry of the shadow economy that is Indian cinema in the U.S., it's rarer for a Tollywood film to pull off the feat.

So shadowy is said economy that box-office reporting sites like Hollywood.com did not even receive weekend tallies from the film's distributor (which makes a total weekend tally from the film's 30 screens impossible to report). The distributor did not reply to an email from 24 Frames seeking comment.
[Update, 4:36 p.m. Sept. 27: Harish Sajja of distributor 14 Reels Ent. tells 24 Frames that the movie has grossed $1.4 million in just three days, thanks largely to word of mouth (and despite the fact that, without subtitles, even many Indians aren't able to understand it). The previous record-holder for a Tollywood film is $1.2 million--over three months. Sajja hopes the movie holds this weekend and stays in theaters through the fall, even though it will have to compete with the glut of American films unleashed in the autumn months."It's a miracle," he said. "Nobody knows the movie is going to cross over like this."]
Already a hit in India, the film pairs the very popular Mahesh Babu with the single-monikered Tollywood starlet Samantha in a two-hander that clocks in--in true India-cinema fashion--at a lightning-quick 3 hours and 10 minutes.

You can catch a trailer below, complete with "He is daring; he is dashing" tagline and enough quick cuts to make Baz Luhrmann look like Merchant Ivory. (If you want to catch the movie in the Southland, you'll have to head down to Norwalk, where it's screening opposite summer holdovers like "Transformers" and "Bad Teacher.")

So what made "Dookudu" so popular?  According to one Indian cinema website, which cited "sleek action sequences" and entertaining one-liners," it was a triumph of casting as much as anything else.

"Obviously, the most important is the star of the film, Mahesh Babu; then the film is directed by Srinu Vytla, who has earned a name for making mass entertainers [sic]. The presence of popular comedians Brahmanandam and M.S. Narayana in the film is also an asset, and ‘Dookudu’ has a beautiful heroine Samantha Ruth Prabhu, sharing screen space with Mahesh for the first time."
Well, that's enough for us.

Success Leaps of Dookudu

Dookudu team has reason to celebrate as the film has created record by collecting 21.24 crore in the first three days and had got rave reviews. Speaking the success meet of the film here on Tuesday, director Sreenu Vytla said, that it was the extra-ordinary effort of Mahesh Babu that has led to the success of the film. Added to his performance there was a good script which contributed to the success and the attitude of the producers who never compromised on anything which led to the success of the film.

The film has collected Rs 21.24 crore during the first three days which, speakers at the meet said, is a big record. The film has scaled and sealed all the records they said. The overseas collections were high as well they added.

Potti Hero lands in Bollywood

Do you remember Sachin? The short hero who was seen in movies like Mounamelanoyi, Ninu Choodaka Nenundalenu and Orey Pandu, is now trying his luck in Bollywood. Sachin is the sole successor of thousands of crores. He is the son of Ghutka legend and hence could afford so much money to become a successful hero.

Despite having a healthy financial background, Sachin doesn't have the features of a hero. He is not blessed with good acting capabilities too. His 'blank' performance in Telugu films was only ridiculed but didn't earn him any name or fame.
Now with his father's money Sachin is launching himself as a hero in Bollywood with the movie Azaan. He performed some dare devil stunts in it and is doing aggressive publicity for the film. Will this desperate attempt finally reap him rich dividends is to be seen.

NTR to show his Power to Mahesh Babu

With Dookudu turning out to be a monstrous hit, people started speculating that NTR Junior would not dare to lock horns with it. Media circles started spreading rumors that Oosaravelli is going to be postponed from October 6 to some other date. But Oosaravelli producer B.V.S.N. Prasad released a press statement that his film will release on the said date at any cost.

NTR Junior is known for his fighting spirit and that attitude made him the winner many a time. He is ready to take on Mahesh's challenge even this time around. Last year Brindavanam released exactly two weeks after Robo was out in theatres. Brindavanam went on to become good hit even when Robo was blazing all guns out.
Now Dookudu was released exactly two weeks before Oosaravelli and NTR is raring to have a go at it. Will he outperform Mahesh's Dookudu or at least match it up with a good hit is to be seen. Game on folks!

Mahesh 'The Businessman' Story Leaked

It is known news that director Puri Jagannadh has begun work on his new project ‘The Businessman’ and even hero Mahesh Babu has geared up to join the shoot. The film is being tracked with curiosity and interest since Puri has targeted January 12th, 2012 as the release which means the schedules will happen at breakneck speed.

Meanwhile, there is news that the story of ‘The Businessman’ has leaked. Buzz is that the story has been inspired from the mining king Gali Janardhana Reddy’s life. It is heard that the film is about how a normal man grows big by involving in the mines business, using political backup and establishing links.

But then, it is heard that this is not being publicized like Gali’s story. It is being projected as how a young man using his brainpower gets into business and rises to great heights. It is also heard that he would be seen using every small corner of society to achieve his goal. Only the film’s release will reveal the secret.
