Bhaskar-Bunny film from Jan. 12

Allu Arjun, who is currently on a sabbatical, will be directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar from January 2012.  The film will be produced by BVSN Prasad.
Bhaskar has been holding story discussions with Arjun for quite a few months.  They did not want to officially announce the film till they have arrived at a cogent idea.
It seems they have finally embarked on the idea.  Mr. Prasad, who is revelling in the commercial success of Oosaravelli, has been convinced that the story will make a terrific subject.
A touching love story aside, the film could be expected to have the hero's character curiously written.  Parugu and Orange saw the heroes with their own distinct approach to life and love.  Will Bhaskar repeat this feat or will he play safe?

Surender Reddy directing Salman Khan

Stylish director Surender Reddy has confirmed that he is all set to direct Salman Khan soon. The movie in question is the Hindi adaptation of Surender Reddy’s ‘Kick’. Raviteja starred in that movie and it went on to become quite a big success.
Salman Khan has agreed to do that film and so now we have two Telugu directors who will work with Salman Khan soon. We have Sreenu Vaitla with the Hindi version of ‘Dookudu’ and we have Surender Reddy with the Hindi version of ‘Kick’.

Salman Khan has been achieving unprecedented success of late with the Hindi versions of popular south films. Let us hope our Telugu directors strike it big with Salman Bhai.

Mahesh is the SRK of Tollywood

Mahesh Babu is the number one hero among the current generation heroes is what his fans believe. Other heroes fans contradict this and show various weak points of Mahesh to prove that he has long way to go to reach that point. But every hero fan should agree that Mahesh is the number one when it comes to overseas territory.

No hero comes close to him in terms of popularity or crowd pulling ability in this region. Dookudu has set a new landmark for this region showing that there is so much untapped market for Telugu films in overseas. We can compare him to Shahrukh Khan especially in this area.
SRK proved he is undisputed king in overseas with numerous instances and Mahesh is following the suit. Stars like Salman Khan are kings in India but couldn't come close to Shahrukh in overseas. Same is happening with stars like Jr NTR here. We have to wait and see if Pawan Kalyan, who was once a big crowd puller in this region could bounce back and match up with Mahesh or not.

Story:

A thoughtful tale, the story begins with PJ (nani) who is filled with pride and headstrong nature. He dreams of owning the Rs 5000 crores property of his grandfather (nagineedu) as he is reaching major status. However, when the time comes, the grandfather's will is read out and it implies that PJ must complete his graduation in three years and that too at a college in Siripuram. If he doesn't, he would not get the property. PJ decides to go for it. There he meets more than he can chew. But what starts as a mission for property soon gets PJ into various situations and incidents which change his perspective towards life and people. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Artist performances:
Nani has given a sensible performance and he carries the role very well. Haripriya looks hot and seductive with her natural beauty. She deserves to be seen more onscreen. Bindu Madhavi was sweet but her role was limited. Srinivas Avasarala was effective and added good value. Ravu Ramesh was good. M S Narayana was impressive, Vennela Kishore was funny. Nagineedu was mild as usual. Sivaprasad was standard. Nani's group of friends was very good and brought a lot of humour.

Plus points:
  • Comedy
  • Making and taking
  • Dialogues
  • Locations and feel
Minus points:

  • Second half
  • Sentimental overdose
  • Excess Melodrama during second half
  • Weak pace in few scenes
Analysis:
The good side of the film is that the script has been met with a different treatment altogether. Luckily, most of the time the film is made on a lighter note and there is a very realistic approach to everything. Technically, the film has been made well and there are those few scenes wherein the energy levels come down due to slow etching at critical points. Overall, this is a film which suits the regular audience and family folks. At the box office, the film has good chances of success.

Verdict: Enjoyable but a bit slow in second half
